A labor of love

I found out last week my sister-in-law had a cancerous tumor on one of her ovaries. custodia iphone x con fiori Aside from praying for her, what could I do? DUH. I make quilts. A quilt would be one way to wrap her in love, so I asked her daughter what her mom’s favorite color was or decorating style. I got the response: “Mom likes blue.” DSC04563Well, of all of the 85+ quilts I have already made, none were blue. I do have a blue stash, though, most recently enhanced by my friend Michele who gave me 3 of the blues in this quilt. custodia iphone 6s bff I found the pattern on the internet: I Googled five yard quilt and came up with this:http://www.millendtextiles.com/attachments/5yardquilt/5yard_quilt.pdf DSC04564I had this cute checkered print that I selected for my focus and worked with colors around it. custodia a specchio iphone 6s I also added the blue plaid from my stash, but Michele came through with the rose prints and the lightweight denim shirt fabric. Now, I’m not a blue lover, but the more I worked on this quilt, the better I liked it. In fact, I thought I should make a quilt of every color (orange being next) just to stretch myself. custodia da cintura iphone 8 plus Patty's quiltI love the way the quilt turned out in the end. It is soft, warm, blue, soothing, comfortable, and full of love and prayers for restoration of health to my sister-in-law. custodia telefono iphone 6s It gave me a sense that I could support her from a distance, and that settled me. custodia iphone 6s simpatica Remember, you can double click on any picture for a closer look.

Make quilts. It’s what I do. It gives me plenty of thinking and praying time when I’m sewing and creating for others. I’m so fortunate to be able to do that, and it’s fun to share.

I could not say it better. What better way to show your love for someone by gifting a quilt.
